Clubs & Other Activities

We offer clubs, field trips, and other special activities this year to encourage families to get out of the books and experience the real world in a real way.

Please feel free to suggest any opportunities, not listed below, that you would like for us to pursue this year as a group.

See Fieldtrips coming up SOON!

Photography Club - 5th-12th Grades - Meets one Saturday per month, to learn the basics of photography! Cost is $5 per session. Email Kennedy at kennedymariephotography@gmail.com to sign up! There will also be a class first semester 2017 where we will learn some of the same things and be able to practice these skills weekly.

Gavel Club - Division of Toastmasters (meets weekly)

2017-2018 will have two Gavel Clubs. One meets on Tuesdays and the other meets on Thursdays. Thursday is already full, so register quickly for Tuesdays.

Gavel Club provides students with the opportunity to develop and practice public speaking skills on a weekly basis. Students are mutually supportive and positive in their interactions and evaluations. This year long club must be registered prior to the start date and requires a telephone interview with the advisor for registration.

Odyssey of the Mind - Middle and High School students may join. Requires phone interview.

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition. Full Circle Academy will be having 3-4 teams this year. Teams are limited (nationally) to 7 kids per team. For more information see the National Odyssey of the Mind Website HERE. Summer sessions are available to experience a mini version of the year long club June 12-16 and July 10-14, 2017

Science Olympiad - one competition per year (meets weekly) 3rd-12th grade

For the past 29 years, Science Olympiad has led a revolution in science education. What began as a grassroots assembly of science teachers is now one of the premiere science competitions in the nation, providing rigorous, standards-based challenges to 6,800 teams in 50 states. Science Olympiad's ever-changing line-up of events in all STEM disciplines exposes students to practicing scientists and career choices, and energizes classroom teachers with a dynamic content experience.

Friday Field Trips (2 days per month) 3rd-12 grade divided by age and interest. We need parent volunteers to help schedule these trips. If you are interested, please contact Nickie asap nickie@fullcircleacademync.com

Music Jam Session for Teens (accomplished musicians)

The last Friday of each month, 6pm-9pm, Full Circle with Kelly Lowder (our guitar, ukelele and drum instructor) hosts Jam Night. We welcome musicians (ages 13 and up), with at least one year of experience with a musical instrument or those who enjoy singing, to join us for an open mic night and Jam Session. Teens will register with songs they plan to perform. Each month has a theme to keep the musicians learning new songs. The theme is not a required element, so teens can still play whatever they have been working on. As they get to know other regulars, they create pick-up bands to join in a song they all know or want to try on the spot. Pizza and drinks are provided for $5 each person. If Pizza is not your thing, you may bring your own snacks or eat before you arrive. Students are expected to perform when they are comfortable but must listen politely to other performers and behave maturely during the night.

Interact Club - High School division of Rotary Club (meet weekly)

Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-supporting. We are presently looking for an advisor for this club. It will be a year long committment and provides valuable networking with adult Rotary Club as a sponsor.

Internship Program for High School Students

Job Shadowing Program for Middle School Students

Teacher Assistant Program (High School credit for helping Full Circle Instructors)

Students interested in helping instructors in lower grades with class time, such as Elementary Science class or Mini Society, may get a certificate for being a Teacher Assistant during the year. This program rewarding in itself, but can also be used as job experience and mentioned on your transcript or resume.
